8 - 9 August 2023, Dalhousie University

SMS 2023 Summer School

Event Description

The SMS will host a two-day summer school on 8-9 August at Dalhousie. It will consist of four three-hour workshops, each of which is designed to introduce the (approximately 20) participants to the state of play in a subdiscipline within the metaphysics of science.

We are pleased to announce that Heather Demarest (Colorado) and Robin Hendry (Durham) have signed on to lead the workshop. (Unfortunately, Alyssa Ney (UC Davis) had to cancel.) This year the summer school will focus on topics in the philosophy of chemistry and philosophy of physics.

Though the initial deadline for applications has passed, there are still spaces available. If you wish to attend, please submit a c.v. to Ken Aizawa (ken.aizawa@gmail.com).

Coffee and other light refreshments will be supported by a grant from the Canadian Journal for Philosophy. Thanks go to the CJP.

A registration fee of $200USD will be used to partially offset speaker travel and lodging expenses. Accepted applicants will be asked to submit their registration fees by August 1, 2023, via our Registration Page.

Please direct inquiries to Tyler Hildebrand (hildebrand@dal.ca) and Ken Aizawa (ken.aizawa@gmail.com).
